Enquiry & Initial Assessment
Your journey begins with a conversation with our Enquiries Coordinator. We’ll discuss your requirements, property, proposed scope and budget to establish the most suitable direction for your project.
If your project is suitable for Extensions Unlimited, your details will be passed to one of our experienced designers. They will contact you to discuss the next steps and arrange an in-home consultation.
Design, Costing and Quotation
To begin the design process, detailed measurements of your existing home will be taken. Your designer will then prepare a concept design that responds to your requirements while considering the layout and features of your existing home.
Once the concept is developed, our in-house estimating team will cost the proposed work. Your design will then be presented to you together with the project specifications and a detailed written quotation.
Pre-Construction
Once you accept the quotation, your project moves into pre-construction. During this stage, our team coordinates the detailed documentation, reports and approvals required before construction can begin.
This may include:
- Detailed working drawings prepared by a draftsperson
- Soil testing undertaken by geotechnical engineers
- Liaising with council and the appointed building surveyor to obtain the required approvals
- Structural engineering
- Energy rating and compliance documentation
- Preparation of the final contract pack, including the agreed specifications, scope and fixed contract price
Your dedicated Pre-Construction Coordinator will guide you through this stage and keep you informed as your project progresses.
Pre-Commencement
Once the pre-construction requirements are complete, your nominated Project Manager will arrange a pre-commencement meeting with you.
This meeting provides an opportunity to discuss site access, construction arrangements, communication, key milestones and what to expect once work begins. You will also be provided with the commencement and completion dates for your project.
Construction
Once construction begins, your nominated Project Manager will coordinate the building program, trades and day-to-day progress of your extension. They will remain your primary point of contact, providing regular updates and answering questions throughout the build.
Before work commences, the site will be prepared with appropriate access, safety and protection measures. As extension projects often involve clients remaining in their homes, our team will discuss how access, security, weather protection and disruption will be managed during construction.
Your extension will be completed by experienced trades using the materials and finishes documented in your plans, specifications and contract. Licensed work will be undertaken by appropriately qualified trades, with required inspections coordinated at the mandatory stages specified in the building permit.
Handover & Aftercare
Once construction and the required final inspections are complete, we’ll conduct a final walkthrough with you and address any outstanding items before formally handing over your newly extended home.
You’ll also receive the relevant handover documentation, which may include a Certificate of Final Inspection and any applicable compliance certificates.
Our support continues after handover. If maintenance items arise, our team remains available to assist and guide you through the aftercare process.
